Ageing roof covering
We check the condition of bitumen, earlier repairs, loose areas and places where water may pond.

Flat roof waterproofing · Luxembourg
PolyShield renovates commercial roofs and larger residential flat roofs with a Premium 2K Polyurea waterproofing system. Its white finish adds measurable Cool Roof properties where the roof and project allow.
From 100 m² · commercial roofs first · every roof assessed individually
Project in The Hague, Netherlands · approximately 125 m² · Cool Roof with a hybrid system. Our Premium 2K Polyurea projects appear below.
A sound decision for your building
On a commercial roof, water ingress can affect stock, equipment and day-to-day operations. Ageing membranes, drains, upstands and penetrations require more than a white layer across the open surface. We assess the whole existing roof before recommending a renovation. If the existing layers are stable and sufficiently dry, retaining them may be possible. Wet insulation, loose layers or structural defects need another intervention first.
We check the condition of bitumen, earlier repairs, loose areas and places where water may pond.
Drains, seams, upstands, rooflights and equipment penetrations need continuous waterproofing and suitable reinforcement.
Access, safety, rooftop equipment and the sequence of work matter as much as the material chosen.
A project you can inspect
On this Dutch commercial roof of approximately 350 m², the existing bitumen layers were examined and prepared. The documented work shows cleaning, a two-component epoxy primer, local geotextile reinforcement at critical connections and two coats of 2K Polyurea. These photographs show what happened beneath the white finish, not just the final appearance. Weert demonstrates our method on that specific roof; a Luxembourg roof requires its own assessment and system design.

The system beneath the white surface
Premium 2K Polyurea is a liquid-applied waterproofing membrane built up in layers on a prepared substrate. Substrate preparation, a compatible primer and careful detailing are integral to the system. The exact build-up and material consumption depend on the existing roof and intended use.
We assess condition, moisture, adhesion and previous repairs. An unstable roof cannot be made sound merely by adding another coat.
Cleaning, necessary repairs and a suitable primer create the foundation for bonding the new membrane.
Drains, upstands, joints and installations are part of the design. Geotextile reinforces details where required.
The Polyurea layers form the new waterproofing. We photograph the prepared substrate, treated details and finished roof during the work.
Cool Roof · measured properties
The following values apply to the documented Premium 2K Polyurea system in white RAL 9003. They describe the tested product and assessed system build-up; they are not measurements of your building's performance.
The share of incoming solar radiation reflected by the white surface in the test.
The ability of the surface to release absorbed heat as thermal radiation.
A figure combining reflectance and emissivity under defined test conditions.
The ETA reference for the system assessed under EAD 030350-00-0402.
Category W3 indicates an expected service life of 25 years within the assessed system configurations. It is not a 25-year warranty. Likewise, BROOF(t1) refers to a specified roof construction and does not automatically apply to every existing roof. The substrate, primer, reinforcement, application rate, installation conditions and use must match the technical documentation. We check this before making a specific performance commitment in a proposal.
A white surface absorbs less solar radiation than dark bitumen, so the roof surface can heat up less in sunshine. The effect inside depends on insulation, ventilation, equipment and how the building is used. We do not promise a fixed indoor temperature reduction or energy saving.
Measured reflectance and heat release explain the appeal of a white finish on a large, dark flat roof.
Offices, workshops and storage areas may benefit from a lower heat load depending on building design and use.
A brighter roof environment may limit heating around panels. Any effect on electricity output depends on the installation and is not quantified here.
An honest look at the existing roof
A liquid-applied membrane can follow a roof with many details, but it cannot remove moisture trapped under old layers or correct structural damage. Our initial assessment separates potentially suitable roofs from those needing investigation, repair or another roof build-up first.
Worth assessing for renovation: stable layers, sufficiently dry substrate, safe access and details that can be treated properly.
Another approach may be needed for wet insulation, large loose areas, serious blistering, poor drainage or structural damage.
Another white system
PolyShield also offers a white silicone system for some suitable bitumen roofs. It includes preparation, a compatible primer, reinforcement at details and an application rate chosen for the roof. Its chemistry, installation conditions and technical evidence differ from 2K Polyurea. Premium 2K Polyurea is the focus here. If silicone is the better match for your roof, we explain why in our recommendation.
More real projects

In Gouda, a school roof of approximately 700 m² shows how a larger existing bitumen surface was prepared, detailed and finished with white 2K waterproofing. Its size and rooftop equipment call for a different work plan from a house roof.

In Huizen, a private flat roof of approximately 225 m² with ageing bitumen and solar panels was renovated. It illustrates our work on a substantial residential roof. Existing rooftop installations are included in the assessment.

PolyShield is based in Delft in the Netherlands. We are open about this from the outset. For a Luxembourg enquiry, we check the address, roof area, access and whether we can organise the technical visit, work and aftercare reliably. You can communicate with us in English, French or German. We personally respond to enquiries within 24 hours.
Send the basic roof details and photographs if you have them. We explain what still needs to be checked on site.
We describe the roof areas, expected preparation, connections, working conditions and points still requiring confirmation.
We document the substrate, treated details and result with photographs. Handover and aftercare arrangements are agreed for the individual project.
Prepare an informed investment decision
Two roofs with the same area can require very different work. We evaluate preparation, repairs, detail work, access and operational constraints before pricing. The proposal covers the complete solution, not merely a price per square metre for a white surface.
An initial assessment helps gather the right information and decide whether a technical visit makes sense. We discuss a work date after reviewing the project; an enquiry alone does not reserve a slot.
Request a roof assessment ↗You can also enquire about a private flat roof from 100 m². We assess its build-up, system compatibility and practical feasibility individually. Whether a Luxembourg housing VAT relief can apply must be checked for the specific job; we do not promise a reduced rate here.
It may be possible where the membrane is stable, clean, sufficiently dry and compatible with the selected preparation and primer. Photographs alone cannot reveal hidden layers.
The white surface reflects more sunshine than a dark roof. The indoor effect also depends on insulation, ventilation, equipment and use. We cannot quote a fixed benefit without a suitable assessment.
No. W3 is an expected service-life category for an assessed system build-up in an ETA. Contractual warranty terms and the actual roof design are specified separately.
We assess the location and access before accepting a project. Inspection, handover and aftercare arrangements are then set out in the proposal and order documents.
Colour is only the visible part. A waterproofing system includes substrate preparation, a suitable primer, careful detailing and membrane layers. Decorative paint does not automatically provide that function.
Yes. Give an estimate or say that the area is still unknown. The location, building type, visible condition and your question are enough to start.
